Kari Vogelgesang

Dr. Kari Vogelgesang is a Clinical Associate Professor of Elementary Education at the University of Iowa. She also serves as the Director of Professional Development for the Scanlan Center for School Mental Health and the Baker Teacher Leader Center. 

Kari began her career in education as an elementary classroom teacher.  In 2015 she graduated from the University of Iowa with her Ph.D. in special education and her area of focus in social, emotional, and behavioral disorders in school-aged children.

Over the last 10 years, Kari has focused much of her work on partnering with school districts across the country to develop evidence-based, meaningful, and accessible teacher professional development opportunities.

Carolyn Gentle-Genitty

Dr. Carolyn Gentle-Genitty, Dean of Founder’s College at Butler University, is a highly accomplished executive and international research scholar, spanning 25 years in higher education, social work, academic affairs, and leadership roles. She has been involved in constructing policy action statements, optimizing standard operating procedures, cultivating visions for long-term institutional change, emphasizing shared ownership of change, embedding performance evaluations around expected change, and creating articulated policy practices. 

Gentle-Genitty earned an undergraduate and master’s degree in Social Work from Spalding University in Louisville, Kentucky. After earning her doctoral degree in Social Work from Indiana University (IU), she went on to lead the University’s Bachelor of Social Work program on the Indianapolis campus before moving into system-wide leadership roles.

Haley Finn

Haley Finn, 8th grade counselor for Indianola Community School District, received her M.S. in School Counseling from Buena Vista University and her B.A. in Social Work from Wartburg College. Her social work experience includes working in a substance abuse facility for women and children, as well as mental health service care coordination for adults. After moving to Indianola, Haley worked as a special education and preschool associate while pursuing her master’s in school counseling.

Jillian Racoosin

Jillian Racoosin, MPH (she/her) is the Executive Director of the Foundation for Social Connection. In her role, Jillian is responsible for leading the direction of the Foundation’s operations and programs, including advancing social connection research and innovation. 

 

She regularly speaks to national audiences about the crisis of social isolation and loneliness in the U.S. and was a contributor to the U.S. Surgeon General’s Advisory on Loneliness and the Healing Power of Connection. Jillian has been featured in a variety of media outlets, including The Messenger, Atlanta Business Chronicle, and Vanity Fair.

Her passion for health promotion began at Tulane University’s School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine and continued to flourish at Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health where she received her Masters degree.

Myles Finn (@itsmrfinn)

Myles Finn is in his seventh year as choral director at Indianola High School, in Indianola, Iowa. He is the director of The Indianola Singers, The Apollo Chorus, and Cantare. He also directs Indianola’s Varsity Show Choir, Side One. He and his wife are the directors of musicals at Indianola High School where they have directed Disney’s Newsies, The 25h Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, The Sound of Music, The Addams Family, and The Wizard of Oz.

He is most known for his TikTok videos going Viral at the start of the 2022 school year. Amassing over 120 million and 1.2 million followers, his videos have seemed to spark a love for choral music, musical theatre, and goofy choir teachers.


Myles received his Master’s Degree in Choral Conducting from Michigan State University, and his Bachelor's of Music Education from Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa.
